Under 15's defeat Motherwell Claret

Despite a delayed kick off Glasgow City Girls got off to a great start in their Saturday morning clash with Motherwell Claret.

The City Girls were comfortable on the ball with some good passing moves. One of these sent Sarah Burrows off on a good run into the area before letting fly to open the scoring after about ten minutes. From there the Glasgow side swept forward and Motherwell often found themselves pinned down deep in their own area.

With the amount of pressure they had, it was of little surprise to see the City Girls go on a goal rush. In total 8 goals were scored, with Alex Wells, Amber Clark, Abigail Park, Hannah Fraser, Lauren Ray, Brenda Kirwin all finding the net, along with a second for Sarah Burrows to make sure of the points for the home side.Motherwell did get on the score sheet from a first half corner, but that was the only blot on an otherwise good performance.

Under 15’s Coach Sandy Cunningham commented after the game. “Personally I was just delighted to see the girls get a good solid victory behind them and a little luck for a change. There was many positives to take from the game and they have been coming more frequently over some recentfixtures. I was pleased to see the girls linking up and moving the ball around well, they communicated and moved well and pressed the whole game. The team still has a way to go but this was a good indication of what the girls can achieve when they play as a team. I could not name a player of the match as all of the squad played their part and deserve credit collectively. Well done Ladies, next up Kilmarnock away.”
