Title pressure all on Celtic

Glasgow City manager, Peter Caulfield, during several interviews this week, insists

the pressure is all on Celtic for this weekend’s top of the table clash at Celtic’s

Training Academy, in Lennoxtown.

When asked about the biggest match of the season, he commented, “Celtic have been in

the driving seat and have been champions elect since they beat us 2-1, at Glasgow Green, in November.

While Celtic were deserved winners on that occasion, we had to field a weakened team that day with 2 of our most important players missing. Suzanne Lappin was stuck in England due to work commitments and Emma Fernon missed out through injury. This meant the balance of our team was affected severely that day.”

Both players, however, are now available to the manager for this match and go into the game in excellent form.

The manager continued, “After that defeat in November we found ourselves 17 points behind Celtic although with 4 games in hand.

Since that day, it has been Celtic’s title to throw away.

Even although we never expected to close the gap on Celtic, it is hard to imagine that they could let slip a 17 point lead, but we can only look to keep our winning run going and hope that Celtic continue to drop points.

After Celtic dropped points last Sunday, we now go there knowing a win will put us top.

We are aware that Celtic will know a draw will be enough for them to secure a first league title and they are still strong favourites.

However, we have no option but to go and win.”
