Scottish Cup semi-final preview: Glasgow City v Hibernian

Glasgow City aim to keep their treble dreams alive tomorrow when they take on Hibernian at Ravenscraig Football Centre at 7.30pm in the semi-final of the Henson Projects Scottish Cup.

With the Premier League Cup and League title already secured, reigning Scottish Cup holders, City are hoping to overcome a Hibs side, whom they defeated in the final last year to ensure they progress to the final of the women’s game showpiece event once more.

With Hibs currently chasing the League runner-up spot, the two sides are no strangers, and City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black hopes his side’s 8-1 win in the League last Sunday gives his team the confidence to win again tomorrow night.

He said, “As a club we have become accustomed to playing in pressure games and that's exactly what a semi-final is. Nobody remembers losing semi-finalists, and we should know as we have sampled both the disappointment of losing and the joy of winning.

“We know the challenge that awaits us as we have played in the last 5 domestic semi-finals and every game has been different. Wednesday’s game sees us once again meet an old foe. In the past 4 seasons we have met Hibs in 6 of the 7 available domestic competitions. I think this shows a remarkable consistency by both teams as on only one occasion did the ties occur before the semi-final.

“Last Sunday’s League game saw us win away at Hibs and we were delighted to come away with the 3 points and to score heavily in the game was really pleasing. We have been threatening to do that for a few weeks now, so it's always a great boost to the confidence especially going into a semi-final knowing we are looking efficient again. We are all really looking forward to the game and I hope we can continue our impressive run of form this season and get the result to take us into the final.”
