Scottish Cup Semi-Final preview: Glasgow City v Celtic
Glasgow City aim to keep their hopes alive of a second successive domestic treble when they go into Sunday’s Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Celtic at Ravenscraig.
The Petershill side have a busy few weeks ahead as they head to Belgium to take on Standard Liege in the last 32 of the Champions League after the semi-final. However, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black is fully aware of the difficult challenge awaiting his side in the form of Celtic, before they can even think of European football.
He said, “Having secured the title in fine fashion last weekend we go into the semi-final with confidence. We are well aware of the difficulty of this tie and know we will have to be at our best to secure another cup final slot. Having played Celtic three times already this season there is no doubt that both clubs know each other well. The players are also very familiar with the attributes and skills of the individuals in each team. Past results and performances are usually used as a barometer of two sides when they are drawn out the hat together. However in my opinion when it is a cup tie between two good sides the past is deemed irrelevant.
“There has been a lot of publicity surrounding our club this week and we are thankful that it has been all about the team and their forthcoming schedule. Being holders of the Scottish Cup we are determined to extend our fantastic record in this tournament but know we face a formidable opponent.”
