Scottish Cup Quarter Final preview - Spartans v Glasgow City

Glasgow City continue their defence of the Scottish Cup this Sunday when they travel to Edinburgh to take on Spartans in the Quarter Final.

The two teams met only a few weeks ago and a strong City performance saw them heavily defeat Spartans 8-1. Despite this scoreline, City boss Eddie Wolecki Black knows his side need to be very wary of their opponents as they have already shown on numerous times this season that they can easily turn around a disappointing result.

He said, “Sunday’s Cup tie is a welcome break away from the league campaign and it is another trophy that we are looking to defend as we aim to continue our good form in this tournament. We have reached the semi-finals for the last four seasons and so are looking to emulate this again.

“After defeating Spartans heavily in the League recently, they have shown their resilience and quality as they immediately defeated Hibernian a week later. It is also not the first time they have demonstrated this resolve this season as previously they lost to Celtic in the league and bounced backed to put six past Rangers in their next outing.”

“From our point of view, we believe we have enough ability to meet the stern opposition and hopefully progress into the semi-finals.”
