Scotland go down to the Danes
Scotland went down 1-0 to Denmark last night (Wednesday) in their European Championship Qualifier at McDiarmid Park, Perth.
The Scots best chances came through headers from Pauline Hamill and Jo Love in the first half, but both failed to capitalise and the sides went in 0-0 at half time. In the second half, Scotland battled well against the group top seeds Denmark, but were unable to hold out. Merete Pederson put the Danes ahead on the hour mark and despite a few efforts from Scotland, the visitors finished with the three points. Scotland now sit third in Group 5 behind Denmark and the Ukraine.
One positive on the night for Scotland was the magnificent achievement of 100 caps for Captain Julie Fleeting and also 50 caps for defender Rhonda Jones. Fleeting who also remarkably has 100 goals for her country will be presented with a special award by the SFA at the Scotland v Italy uro 2008 decider at Hampden on November 17th.
