Scotland defeat Wales as all City players start

All six of Glasgow City’s Scotland players started today’s match against Wales, which Scotland came from behind to win 4-2.

Rachel Corsie and Emma Fernon started in defence for the Scots, with Jo Love and Leanne Ross in midfield, with City striking double act Jane Ross and Christie Murray leading the line.

Scotland fell behind to a Gwen Harries strike on 16 minutes, but levelled on the half hour mark when City’s Leanne Ross and Jane Ross combined to get their side back level.

The Welsh defence failed to deal with a cross from Leanne Ross, and the loose ball fell to Jane Ross, who produced a great finish.

The City striker then turned from scorer to provider for Scotland's second goal, striding down the right wing to put in a low cross. City’s Jo Love dummied for Hayley Lauder of Spartans and the midfielder swept home her first of the day to give Scotland a half-time lead.

The home side drew level on 76 minutes when Helen Lander took advantage of a bobble to beat Fay in the Scotland goal.

Within three minutes Jo Love restored the lead with a cool finish and then set up Lauder to get her second and her side’s fourth of the day.
