Reserves go down to Falkirk

Glasgow City Reserves lost a disappointing 4-0 away from home to Falkirk yesterday.

In a current period of transition, City's Reserves worked hard for the ninety minutes but failure to put the ball into the back of the net in the first half ended up costing them on the day.

Falkirk got their first goal of the game after 20 minutes. The home side sent a good cross into the City box, which their number 10 converted with a header. City huffed and puffed trying to find an equaliser to get themselves back into the game, but could not convert any efforts into goals.

Half time 1-0

In the second half, City made a few positional changes and came out fighting trying to get an early equaliser. However, a second early goal from the Falkirk side within 15 minutes of the restart made the comeback all but impossible.

Falkirk then made it 3-0. City made a crucial error in not clearing their lines, which resulted in an unecessary corner for Falkirk, which was spectacularly converted straight from the corner kick.

With 20 minutes remaining, City put pressure on the home side, with Lyndsey Anderson and Ciara Barnes going close in particular, but agonisingly for City, none of their efforts went in to the back of the net.

With the match reaching a close, City were undone once more when Falkirk broke forward, playing a quick ball to the striker, who then rounded the City keeper for a simple finish.
