Reserves earn point against Falkirk

Glasgow City Reserves did well to pick up a point against Falkirk last Sunday, as boss Fiona Baker struggled for options with five players unavailable for the match.

Although under strength, City took the lead through Sarah Major. A well worked move down the right hand side, saw City link play up well into the penalty area where Major was on hand to finish past the Falkirk keeper’s top right hand side.

City’s struggles continued however, when Major had to go off with a hamstring injury

Half time was 1-0

Falkirk got back on level terms with 25 minutes remaining, but it was a frustrating goal for the home side to lose, with the Falkirk player given too much time to line up her shot. Stephanie Hardie in the City net was unlucky not to pull off a great save, getting her hand to the shot, but she was unable to push it over the bar.

Boss, Baker commented on the draw,

“Overall it was a decent performance considering the lack of players for selection. The girls done what I asked of them and managed to get a point from the game. It was a very physical, tough match which both teams enjoyed. Falkirk are a talented and very physically strong young team, but I felt we could maybe have won the game. Having said that, a point won is better than 3 points dropped today considering all the factors we had against us, and I am proud of the players and their efforts.”
