Record day as City win comfortably
Glasgow City defeated Vale of Clyde 12-0 today at Glasgow Green in what was a momentous day for the club.
With their second highest score of the campaign this season, City ensured they remain focussed for the title with only four games to go. To add to the importance of the result this was City’s fifth consecutive clean sheet, a record for the club. Even more remarkable, amongst the goal rush, City’s Jane Ross hit the team’s 1000th competitive goal since City started 10 years ago in 1998.
This important goal was Ross’s second of the day, with the other strikes coming from Ruesha Littlejohn (4), Leanne Ross (4), Suzanne Lappin (1) and Emma Fernon (1).
Boss Peter Caulfield was delighted with his team’s performance. He said, “We changed things round a little bit today, making four changes from the side which started last week, so I was delighted with how the team performed, We have an outstanding squad and today showed how moving things around a little has no impact on the standard of our play. Top marks to every player today and some of our goals were excellent. Unfortunately we now have a few weeks off for internationals, but this will give us time to work on different things on the training pitch.”
