Nine Glasgow City players selected for Scotland squad to face Serbia
No fewer than nine Glasgow City players have been selected for the Scotland squad to head out to Serbia tomorrow morning for an international challenge match against the European side.
Leanne Ross, Leanne Crichton, Rachel Corsie, Sarah Crilly, Eilish McSorley, Jo Love, Suzanne Malone, Lisa Robertson and Nicola Docherty have all been named as part of an 18 strong Scotland squad to take on the Serbians ranked 23 places behind the Scots in the FIFA world rankings at 43. City midfielder Emily Thomson was selected but had to withdraw through injury.
It is the first time City Captain Rachel Corsie has been back in the national squad after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament when playing for Scotland last year against Spain in the European Championship play-offs. Corsie played her first 90 minutes for City only last week after 9 months out, when she Captained her side to an impressive 2-0 win over FC Twente in the Champions League, as well as netting her side’s first goal of the game.
The challenge match will take place on Wednesday at 4pm local time at the FA of Serbia Sports Centre at Stara Pazora.
