Leanne named Sports Personality of the Year
Congratulations to Glasgow City and Scotland midfielder Leanne Ross who was this week named Falkirk Sports Council Senior Sports Personality of the Year.
It has been a fantastic week for Leanne as she helped her side go top of the Premier League table last Sunday and in the process, started her 100th game for the club. She has also selected for the Scotland national team for tomorrow’s match against the Netherlands and is again in the squad for the match against the USA – the world’s number one team – on Wednesday.
Hailing from Stenhousemuir, Leanne has achieved many things in her sporting life, but the accolade from her local community is one she will cherish for a long time.
She said, “I did not expect the award at all. I knew I was nominated and I was flattered to be recognised in the first place, but I never expected for a minute that I would be leaving with the award. Football is a team sport and I am very lucky to be surrounded by talented team mates at Glasgow City and indeed Scotland and as a group we have achieved many things. I put my life and soul into football and it is a real honour to be recognised in this way.”
