Kat and Jane mark notable milestones

Glasgow City’s top of the table clash against Celtic may not have gone according to plan on Sunday afternoon at St Mirren Training Academy, in Ralston, Paisley, when a host a missed chances by City throughout the game allowed Celtic to steal a point with a late goal against the run of play, however, the occasion did mark significant milestones for two City Players.

Jane Ross pulled on the City shirt to make her 100th appearance for the club while Katharina Lindner notched her 92nd goal in City colours to become the 2nd top goal scorer in the clubs history, behind her current team mate Suzanne Lappin.

City manager Peter Caulfield paid tribute to both players when he said, “I have the utmost respect for these two girls and their achievements. Their professionalism and dedication to the game is nothing short of remarkable and they are a credit to this club as well as themselves.

“For Jane to have achieved 100 games at only 20 years of age is testament to the ethos at Glasgow City that if you are good enough you are old enough and Jane has proven to be more than capable of playing at the very top level and is improving all the time as a player. Her goal scoring record is also pretty impressive but her most valuable asset is that she is such a good team mate and gives everything for the team. It is also great to see that her impressive displays and continuing development now have her as a fixture in Anna Signeul’s International squad.

“Katharina passed the 100 appearance mark quite some time ago but to now reach 92 goals for a wide player is a great return by any standards. We all probably think of Kat more as a creator of chances but reaching this milestone shows that she knows how to find the back of the net also. Unless there is someone else out there hiding, she is probably the longest serving foreigner in the Scottish game and she has brought great habits with her from Germany in terms of her attitude, application and skill level. We now just think of her as an adopted Scot!

“I look forward to working for many more years with both these players and I am sure we will see them play a continued part in bringing more honours to the club while reaching even greater personal milestones.”
