Jane Ross wins SWF Players' Player of the Year

Congratulations to Glasgow City striker Jane Ross who won the coveted Scottish Sun Players' Player of the Year at the SWF Awards.

It was a fitting reward for a player who has achieved more than any other in a very successful 2012. Part of City’s historic treble winning squad, Jane helped the Champions win every domestic match and also reach the last 32 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

She was also the only Scottish based player picked for the GB Olympic squad, when she made the reserve list back in the summer for London 2012. Scoring a number of fine goals for both club and country, perhaps one of Jane’s best came at Petershill in the last 32 of the Champions League in October, when she scored a left foot screamer into the top corner to give City a 1-1 draw against Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.

Jane finished the season as City top goalscorer, scoring 40 goals in only 27 starts, a phenomenal achievement for the striker who has been with City since she was just 16 years old.

Congratulations Jane.
