Glasgow City to face Valur in Champions League knock-out stages 
At the UEFA Headquarters in Nyon yesterday, Glasgow City were drawn out of the hat to face Icelandic Champions Valur Reykjavik in the last 32 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The home and away leg, will be the first ever time a Scottish team has been involved in the knock out stages, with City looking to manage the impossible and reach the last 16.
Valur have won their domestic title for the last five years running and have reached the last 16 twice in European competition. Commenting on his side’s opponents, City Head Coach Eddie Black said, “There is no doubt that we have been given a tough draw, this is a team that have for the past four seasons 
been involved at this stage of the competition, therefore whilst it is new to us, it is a natural situation for them. However, we will look to do ourselves justice and hope the public will come out in support of us in our attempt to progress to the next round. Whilst the last 16 draw was made at the same time, we cannot allow ourselves to be distracted and we must remain focused on what is a very difficult tie.”
City will play their home match first on the evening of Thursday 29th September at Petershill Park in Springburn.
