City to face Hibs in SWPL Cup Semi

After last week's comprehensive defeat of Kilmarnock in the Quarter Finals, City have been drawn to face Hibernian in the SWPL Cup Semi-Final, with the match taking place on Wednesday 4th May at Prestonfield Park, home to Linthgow Rose Juniors, kick off 7.30pm.

City progressed to the semi-finals defeating Killie 10-0 last Sunday.

It took City some time to get into their stride in this match, opening the scoring just after the half hour mark through Lisa Evans who finished at her second attempt, after the keeper had parried her first effort. Five minutes later full back Emma Fernon doubled City's advantage with a great lob into the far top corner. Moments later Christie Murray added another finishing off a good passing move with a shot from just inside the box.

Murray's International team mate Leanne Ross then made it 4-0 firing home a Murray shot which had just came back off the cross bar. A minute later, City were 5-0 ahead going into the break when Jane Ross hit an Emma Mitchell cut back into the back of the net.

City kept the scoring up after the break when Leanne Ross scored from the spot after a Killie player handled in the box. Fernon then scored another good goal finishing off a City corner. Jane Ross made it 8-0 after receiving a pass from Fernon. Centre half Danica Dalziel got her second goal for the club and the team's ninth of the day when she cleverly back heeled from close range after a City corner.

With less than ten minutes remaining Leanne Ross got her hat-trick to make it 10-0 scoring from the penalty spot once more.

The only downside to the match was the dismissal of Emma Mitchell with 30 minutes still left to play following her second yellow card.

Commenting on the match, Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, "We were disappointed with our start to the game and the first half scoreline I felt flattered us. However, the break allowed us to refocus on our performance and we were excellent in the second half with the dismissal making no difference in terms of our possession. Emma's sending off was very disappointing and I am sure she will learn from it. Overall we are pleased to be in the next round and credit to Kilmarnock who never gave up."
