Glasgow City sign
Northern Ireland defender Julie Nelson

Glasgow City are delighted to announce their second major signing within a week with the arrival of defender Julie Nelson from Everton.
The Northern Ireland international moved to Glasgow today and joined her new team mates in her first session tonight with the club.
Discussing the latest addition to his impressive squad, Glasgow City Head Coach, Eddie Wolecki said, “It has been well broadcast that we have suffered from injuries this season and defensively we have been hit hard. I told the players before the break that I would sign two or three and it looks likely to be more than that now. It is probably fair to say this is my biggest ever overhaul of the squad in mid-season, Denise and Emily have joined and now I am delighted to have captured Julie.
“She played against us a few years ago in the Champions League and I was certainly impressed by her performance that day. She was a regular at Everton until just before the break and has a vast amount of international experience which will help us. It was a throw away comment I made about her coming here a month ago that set the ball rolling and I am glad to say she is now a City player. She is an intimidating centre half who attacks the ball well and will easily fit into the system at the club. I wish her all the best of luck and look forward to working with her.”
Commenting on her move to City on her arrival today, Julie said, “I am delighted to be joining Glasgow City FC at this exciting time as the team prepares for the upcoming Champions League fixtures and continue their Scottish League and Cup campaigns. Having played against Glasgow City back in 2010 in the Champions League, I have seen how well the team play and I look forward to meeting up with them and working with Eddie and the rest of the staff over the coming months.”
