Glasgow City sign Fiona Brown

Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of Fiona Brown from Celtic.

The 18 year old dynamic Scotland Under 19 internationalist becomes the second new face to be announced by the Champions for the forthcoming season as City aim to build on their success of recent years.

Commenting on joining City, Fiona said, “I'm really excited to be joining Glasgow City for next season. I think it's a great opportunity to develop myself further and establish myself as a player. I'm really looking forward to training with new people and working under a new coach.

“I've had four amazing years at Celtic and can't thank the staff and players enough for everything they've done for me. I wouldn't have had this opportunity without all the effort the club has made and I've loved my time there along with my time at Falkirk FC and Stenhousemuir. I'm grateful to have developed as an individual not only on the park but off the park too and to have made friends for life.

“I can't wait to get started at the club and I'm excited to what the future holds.”

City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “I am delighted to have secured the signature of Fiona. Not many people will know that I met with Fiona and her Mother four years ago with the intention of bringing her to the club. At the time we were just getting a youth set-up in place and Fiona made a decision she believed was best for her career at that time. Needless to say I have followed her progress with interest and once I knew she was over her injury she became a priority signing for us. Fiona will add a lot of width to our play, she brings great quality, pace, intensity and a great attitude and I am certain she will flourish in her new environment. I wish her well and look forward to working with her in January.”

Brown goes immediately into Wolecki Black’s new first team squad and will jet off with the rest of the team at the end of January for the club’s pre-season tournament in Germany. Played in front of a 2000 strong sell-out crowd, City will compete at the ‘Meet the Champions’ indoor invitation only tournament organised by German giants Turbine Potsdam and boasting some of the strongest sides in Europe. Glasgow City were invited to compete in the elite tournament last year and are delighted to be welcomed back by Potsdam for 2014.
