Glasgow City sign Alyshia Walker

Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of highly talented teenage striker Alyshia Walker.

Alyshia joins the club from Celtic and was part of the very successful Scotland Under 17 squad who reached the European Championship finals only a few months ago where Walker was named by UEFA as one of the 'players to watch' and started all three games for the Scots, including finding the back of the net against eventual winners Germany.

As Walker becomes the fourth new face to join the first team as Eddie Wolecki Black revamps his squad for the forthcoming season, the City Head Coach said, “Once I knew we had the opportunity to sign Alyshia it was a priority to get her on board. She will add a different dimension to us in an attacking sense and for one so young plays with great maturity. I have high hopes that she will develop into a top player and will help this club to continue to challenge for the major trophies again this season. I wish her well and look forward to working with her.”

On making the move to City, Alyshia said “I am very excited about joining Glasgow City this season. This will be a great opportunity as a young player to develop not only on the pitch but off it too. I feel it will be a good challenge for me and I am also looking forward to playing alongside new players and under a new coach. I am very thankful for this opportunity and I can't wait for the season to start.

“On leaving Celtic, the 3 years I had there were great, I can't thank them enough for what they have done. They didn't just develop me as a player they also developed me as a person.”

Alyshia began the new pre-season with her team mates a few days ago and will travel with the rest of the squad to Potsdam for the ‘Meet the Champions’ tournament at the end of the month in Germany, where she will make her first official appearance in a City shirt.
