SWPL Cup Final
The first silverware of the season is up for grabs this Saturday when Glasgow City take on Spartans in the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup Final at Stirling Albion’s Forthbank Stadium, with kick off 3pm.
Both sides go into the match unbeaten in the domestic campaign and have yet to face each other this season.
As current Premier League Champions, City’s top goalscorer Suzanne Lappin knows her team will go into the match as favourites, and having been in many finals before, she knows her team can more than handle theoccasion.
She said, “This is my sixth season with Glasgow City and Saturday will be my sixth domestic Cup Final, so myself and a number of our experienced players know fully what to expect. Spartans are a very talented side and their record this season speaks volumes for how well they are playing. They have a number of excellent players, particularly their front pairing of Diana Barry and Debbie McWhinnie, but with both being two former City players, we know them well. We play football to win trophies so to have a chance to pick up some silverware this early in the season is a tremendous boost for the club. Our Girls team have also made it to the SWFL Cup Final – which is the League Cup for the four lower divisions- so as a whole, our club is on a high right now. We will be doing everything we can to ensure we lift the trophy come the end of the match on Saturday.”
Spartans will go into the match without defender Shelley Faughnan who misses out through suspension.
Tickets are priced £3 or £1 (concessions).
