Glasgow City return to action against Spartans

Glasgow City return to domestic duty this weekend after their Champions League travels and will line up at Petershill against a Spartans side currently in 4th place in the League.

Without a match last weekend, City have now gone 12 days without a game, although 9 players were involved in the Scotland squad who thrashed out a 1-1 with Serbia midweek.

Glasgow City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black is well aware of the challenge awaiting his side on Sunday and looks to his full squad to cover for any potential tiredness in the legs of his national team players.

He said, “We are delighted to see so many of our players involved on the international stage however like most things in life there is a kick back and it's means our preparation for Sunday has been slightly disrupted.

“This is where having good depth to the squad helps and we hope the players chosen to play against Spartans will maintain the standard that has been set so far this season. Spartans and ourselves know each other very well, therefore I don't foresee any surprises in either line-up. We know what is at stake for ourselves as the countdown is on to gain the necessary points required to retain the league title.

“An added edge to the game is the fact that we were drawn out the hat together in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup. Both clubs know at some stage you have to face Premier League opposition but it really is remarkable how many times we come out the hat against a fellow league side in the national cup competition.

“First though, we have to concentrate on overcoming a difficult opponent in Sunday’s league tie and look to edge closer to another title.”

Glasgow City take on Spartans at Petershill Park on Sunday at 2pm. Cash gate; Adults £5, Concessions £3, Kids go FREE.
