City remain undefeated

Glasgow City edged one point closer to leaders Celtic and are the only team still with a 100% record in the Premier League after their 3-0 win away to Aberdeen.

Always a difficult away match, City dominated play for the first 45 minutes and took the lead through Sue Lappin who rose to head home a corner from Leanne Ross. Despite further chances, City were unable to add to their lead and went in at half time 1-0 up.

In the second half, City continued to create more chances against the Dons and doubled their lead through Scotland and City midfielder Megan Sneddon. Receiving a cross field pass from attacking full back Emma Fernon, Sneddon hit the goal of the game when she fired a powerful 35 yard drive into the back of the Aberdeen net.

City then made a number of changes, bringing on a total of five subs over the next ten minutes and it was substitute Rachel Corsie who scored number three when she converted another City corner. It was a well taken goal by the former Aberdeen player and gave City the result their dominance deserved.

Despite the result, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki was a little disappointed. He said, “To be honest I was furious at half time. We are a much better side than we were today and I want to ensure we play to the same standards every single week and not just when we want to. We did pick things up in the second half which was good, but we should have done so much better today. However, we came here for three points and a clean sheet and we achieved that.”
