Glasgow City put ten past Killie

Glasgow City maintained their position at the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League with a 10-0 win over Kilmarnock last night.

With Jane Ross captaining the side for the first ever time, City got off to an early lead through Ciara Barnes and continued on from strength to strength in what ended up a comfortable victory for the Champions. A further two goals from Barnes, combined with doubles for Kat Lindner and Lisa Evans and single strikes from Christie Murray and Emma Woolley, ensured City continued their impressive scoring rate with 93 Premier League goals in only 13 matches.

Commenting on his side’s victory and performance, Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black sais, “We knew it was crucial to start well and to score after one minute was very important. When playing against low block teams, patience is required and by scoring early this allowed us to maintain control of the game throughout the 90 mins. We created many opportunities throughout the game and it was particularly pleasing to see our goals distributed across the team again. Ciara Barnes became the 10th different City player to score a hat trick this season which of course helps us to be a little less predictable when attacking. We are also proud of our defensive record and we worked hard to protect the ball throughout the game.

City’s next match is against Rangers this Sunday at Petershill Park. Kick off 2pm.
