Glasgow City proud to support Show Racism the Red Card

Glasgow City Football Club are proud to support Show Racism the Red Card and are delighted to be part of Fortnight of Action 2014.

Glasgow City acknowledges that racism is a form of oppression. We aim to support and embrace diversity and difference through zero tolerance to racism and discrimination of any kind, education of our young and our actions both on and off the park.

This Sunday at our home match against Hibernian we will join the SWPL and SWFL and its clubs to deplore all forms of racism and emphasise that any racist behaviour will not be tolerated within SWPL and SWFL.

This year the Show Racism the Red Card campaign has continued to develop partnerships with local authorities to deliver educational workshops combined with football coaching sessions in a number of regions. A dedicated team of education workers and ex-professional and professional footballers delivers the workshops. They are a very positive method of educating our young people about the negative impact racism has on Scottish society and Glasgow City has been proud to have been a part of some of these educational activities.

Football is a sport that is followed by people across the world, and football matches should be an enjoyable experience for all, whatever their background. We all have a part to play in stamping out racism in football and society.

If you see or hear racism or sectarianism at any level of football, please report it to the stewards or police.

This Sunday we will be giving away Glasgow City Show Racism the Red Card posters. Why not ask a City player to sign yours at the end of the match?
