City named Performance Team of the Year

Scottish Champions Glasgow City were named ‘Performance Team of the Year’ last night in the Sports Council for Glasgow’s annual awards at the splendid St Andrews in the Square venue in the Merchant City.
The nation’s top women’s football team won the Premier League for a record breaking fourth year in a row in the last few weeks and have been unbeaten in the Premier League for two full years. Domestic success combined with outstanding performances in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, earned City their prestigious award.
Vice Captain Sue Lappin and Chairperson Carol Stewart were in attendance to pick up the award. A delighted Lappin commented, “It is great to be acknowledged by the Sports Council for our achievements and success. We are used to winning medals and trophies on the park so it is nice to win them off it as well. Our club works extremely hard to be at the very top of our sport and hopefully in 2011 we will go on to even greater success at home and most importantly, in Europe.”
