Glasgow City face Celtic at Airdrie Stadium
Glasgow City take on Celtic tomorrow at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium, with the League leaders having switched their home domestic venue from Petershill to that where they play their Champions League matches, clearly indicating where the reigning Champion’s focus remains for the rest of the season.
Wednesday’s midweek defeat of Rangers, means City are now ten points clear and with a better goal difference of 20 than their nearest rivals and with just seven League games left to play it seems only a matter of time before Glasgow City lift their eighth consecutive domestic title.
Celtic will provide stiff opposition to City who have had a very tough run of fixtures and a number injuries to key players to contend with, but Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black is confident his side will be Champions.
He said, “The League table shows we need to lose four of our last seven games to concede the title, so I think it is fair to say we will win the title, I just don’t know when. Celtic will certainly provide very difficult opposition and we will need to be at our best to maintain our winning run.
“We were down to just two substitutes on Wednesday as injuries have really taken their toll, so I am hoping to have a few more back in the squad for the visit of Celtic to Airdrie. It is a real boost to have moved our home games. We have some massive matches coming up in the Champions League and we want to give the team the best possible chance to succeed, so I am delighted we have been able to tie up a deal with Airdrie for us to play out the rest of our season at their stadium”
