Glasgow City end League campaign with another win
Glasgow City finished their SWPL campaign with yet another win after defeating Spartans 2-0 in Edinburgh.
Two goals in quick succession from top goalscorer Jane Ross, gave the Champions victory and in turn set City up for the Henson Scottish Cup Final next Sunday, where they aim to complete the treble.
Elsewhere in the SWPL, Forfar defeated Aberdeen to secure second place in the Premier League ensuring a cracking Cup Final encounter next weekend when City and Forfar meet at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium, 2pm Kick Off.
Commenting on today’s win and his side’s League campaign, City Head Coach, Eddie Wolecki Black said, “I must give my congratulations to all players and staff on a fantastic season. I asked the girls before the game, if for the second year running, could they go through a League season unbeaten and they did it. It is a magnificent achievement to have the League Cup and League title already secured and to be in the Scottish Cup Final. Today was a very professional performance. We kept the ball and controlled the game and I never felt the result was in doubt. We have had another outstanding League campaign, and are looking forward to build this week towards the Scottish Cup Final where it is fitting that it will be the top two in the League contesting the final.”
