City draw Hibs

Cup holders Glasgow City have drawn tough opposition in the form of Hibernian in the first round of the Premier League Cup.

With a twelve team Premier League, four teams automatically get a bye to the Quarter Finals, however reigning Champions City were pulled out of the hat early, earning a home tie against the team they beat in last year’s final, Hibernian.

Commenting on the draw, City Manager Peter Caulfield said,

“Without a doubt we have one of the tougher teams in the opening round, but if we are honest we prefer it. The girls all relish a difficult match to properly test their skills and they are flying at the moment in pre-season. The girls were delighted to draw Hibs as they respect the team and know they will be in for a difficult match. The only shame is that one of the country’s top sides will have to go out of the competition early, but that is the beauty of the Cup.”

City’s first round match will be played on Sunday 21st February at Glasgow Green, kick off 2pm.

The full draw is:

Glasgow City v Hibernian
Hamilton Accies v Forfar Farmington
Dundee United v Spartans
Boroughmuir Thistle v Celtic
Rangers, Aberdeen, Inverness and Kilmarnock – bye.
