Glasgow City arrive in Belgium ahead of Champions League last 32
Glasgow City arrived in Belgium today ahead of the first leg of their last 32 Champions League match against Standard Liege.
Eddie Wolecki Black’s side remains without Scottish internationalists Emma Fernon and Emily Thomson, who are out for the rest of the season, but welcome back Christie Murray who returned a week ago after a year out with a knee injury. City will also have to cope without Republic of Ireland striker Denise O’Sullivan who is suspended for the first leg due to bookings received in the Qualification Group stage back in August, but are in Belgium with an 18 strong squad and raring to go.
Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “We had a tough match on Sunday in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Celtic, but apart from a few knocks, we have no serious concerns other than the players we have been forced to leave behind.
“We had a good training session tonight on our arrival for the girls to get the journey out of their legs and we look forward to taking in the match stadium tomorrow evening in our final session to properly acquaint ourselves with our match day surroundings ahead of Wednesday. It is all about focus now and it is our job as staff to make sure the players are as prepared as possible ahead of Wednesday night.”
