Glasgow City aim for 3 points to lift their 7th title in a row
Glasgow City will line up on Sunday against Rangers, knowing that three points will secure an incredible seventh SWPL Championship in a row.
With the reigning treble winners having won every competitive match so far this season, fewer games have been so important for the Glasgow side, as they aim to continue their winning form and secure the title with four games remaining.
Speaking ahead of the big match, City Head Coach, Eddie Wolecki Black said, “At the start of the season I forecast that Rangers would finish in the top four. My reasons for this were simple.
“When a new management team comes in there is a renewed optimism and this feel good factor can carry much weight. The structure also changed at Rangers as a bigger coaching staff came on board and in turn they brought in a number of experienced players to boost the squad and help the younger talent to improve.
“Since the break they have lost all five league games yet still remain in the top four, this shows how impressive a start to the season they had. Last weekend saw them get back on track with a comfortable win at home to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup. On the two occasions we have already met this season, Rangers have made it very difficult for us and we expect another tough challenge on Sunday. As a club we are aware of what's at stake and also the necessity to gain the three points as quickly as possible.”
Glasgow City take on Rangers at Petershill Park, Springburn Glasgow, G21 4DD. Kick off 2pm. Cash gate, adults £5, concessions £3 and kids go FREE.
