Glasgow City agree loan with Hamilton Accies for Lauren McMurchie
Glasgow City have reached an agreement with fellow Scottish Women’s Premier League side, Hamilton Accies, for first team player Lauren McMurchie to go on loan until the end of the season.
Lauren who has been with the Scottish Champions since she was 16 years old, has suffered greatly in the last few years with injury and is now recovering from her third anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. To ensure Lauren achieves adequate game time to continue her rehabilitation Glasgow City have reached a loan agreement with Hamilton Accies.
Commenting on the agreement, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “It has been well documented that Lauren has suffered from career threatening injuries and needs to be gradually introduced back. Currently we are facing crunch matches and every win gains a lot and any defeat costs a lot. These matches are very intense and it is unfair to expect Lauren to progress if she is only getting limited game time. The loan deal didn’t take long to sort out as it is an arrangement we have used before with Hamilton when Suzanne Malone went there to similarly get time to recover from injury. Kevin (Murphy) knows the player well and is pleased she is joining his side. Hamilton are a club I have a lot of trust for and I know she will be well looked after there. We fully expect Lauren to report to pre-season training ready to challenge for a first team spot. In the meantime we wish her well and I am sure the deal will be beneficial to all parties.”
