Glasgow City U'15's v Drongan
Glasgow City U’15’s prepared for their away tie at Drongan last Saturday by training with thefirst team on the Friday night. A session with Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black helped instill confidence in the girls with the new system they are playing this season.
During the match, the side worked well to maintain possession keeping the ball in the opposition half for long periods with some good efforts on goal. Excellent play from full backs Lauren Kelly and Kerri Sinclair in particular gaveplenty of ammunition for the forwards to attack the home side’s goal. City’s good play saw Alex Wells open the scoring and more goals in the first half came from Ambur Clark, Louise Foster and Sarah Tracey.
During the half time break the coaching staff had a good discussion with the girlsabout becoming to eager to press forwardstressing what had been learned the previous evening. Taking on board what had been said, the team performed excellently in the second half with Katie Caine doing well in mid field and Lauren Simmonsbeing a contender for player of the match. Further goalscame from a variety ofpositions on the park as City enjoyed large periods of possession.
After the match U’15 coachCiara Barnes commented, "The girls worked well to retain possession. It seemed as though they had finally brought their work from the training ground into the game, which was very pleasing indeed. The half time break came at a crucial point for the coaches as it was clear to see that the team were beginning to get a bit too eager and began to forget some of what they had been taught the night before. The girls next game is at home to Kilmarnock this Saturday where hopefully we will see more of the same."
