Glasgow City Reserves making good progress

Glasgow City’s Reserve side continued to show progress in yesterday’s First Division game against Raith Rovers at Glasgow Green.

Since the start of the new term the young side have put in some impressive performances, including an amazing 4-4 draw with Cowdenbeath in the first League game of the season. They have followed this up with a 4-2 win against Forfar Farmington and other recent notable scores include a 4-1 triumph against Buchan Ladies Youth in the Scottish Cup Preliminary round and also against Dee Ladies.

Against Raith Rovers, City had the majority of possession, forcing several cornerkicks and recording fourteen shots at goal, eight of which were on target. Rovers, for their part had one goal attempt from which they scored from. Try as they did to get back on level terms, the young City side couldn’t make the breakthrough and the match ended as a disappointing loss.Speaking after the game the Reserves assistant coach Rob Taylor commented.

“Throughout the match we had the majority of the possession and chances but failed to make it count. There is noticeable improvement within the team as the weeks go in. With a similar performance on another day goals would have been scored and we are delighted with the progress the team is making.”
