City Manager - Thank You
Glasgow City look forward to the new campaign, but Manager Peter Caulfield would like to take some time out to express his thanks to four players who unfortunately will not be part of the City squad next year.
Two of the four players have been with the club for some considerable time and while the Manager expressed his sadness in losing all four players, he intimated that this was particularly difficult in the case of Kirsty McNicol and Angela Livingston, who had both served the club extremely well.
Kirsty joined the club from Ayr United in 2002 and Angela from East Kilbride in January 2004, so both players have been part of the fabric of the club for a considerable time and an integral part of the club’s success in recent years. In the case of Danielle Stewart and Jane Brown, they were more recent additions to the club, in 2007 and 2008 respectively, but again both made an impact for the club, not least with 3 goals apiece in last season’s UEFA Women’s up campaign and for Jane Brown a goal also in this years Scottish Cup final against Rangers.
For Kirsty McNicol, however, her involvement with Glasgow City continues as she joins the coaching staff for the new season. Kirsty will now take up the role as Coach to Glasgow City’s Reserve side, working in partnership with Kayleigh Cameron who will now combine last years role as Coach to Coach/Manager, taking over from Richie Evans.
The Manager commented, “We are always looking to freshen up the squad and unfortunately, at times this means having to part company with some fantastic players. All four girls have made an outstanding contribution to our success in recent seasons and I would like to thank them publicly for that and wish them all every success in the future.
I would also like to thank Richie Evans for his commitment and efforts of last season, where he guided our Reserve team (Glasgow City Girls) to unparalleled League and League cup successes and wish good luck to Kayleigh Cameron and Kirsty McNicol who will now be leading the reserve team in Division One this coming season.”
