City comfortable against Accies

Glasgow City remain top of the Thompson’s Premier League after winning 3-0 away to Hamilton Accies.

Going in 1-0 at half time, City extended their lead in the second half to run out 3-0 winners. On the scoresheet were Ruesha Littlejohn who opened the scoring with a tremendous volley from just inside the box. Megan Sneddon extended the lead with a forceful run into the Accies box, and Suzanne Lappin sealed victory with a close range finish.

Although rarely threatened by Hamilton, City boss Peter Caulfield would have liked a little more from his team. He said, “We totally dominated the game, but were not as sharp as we have been in the last two games. The luck was not there in front of goals tonight as we hit the bar twice and came inches close on countless occasions. Perhaps the best way to describe the match was that we were effective enough but not sparkling. I am pleased to have another clean sheet and of course three points is essentially what we came for. So I am happy, but we could do better.”

City now have this Sunday off as Scotland take on Belgium in an international friendly at McDiarmid Park. In the squad are City midfielders Megan Sneddon and Leanne Ross.

The next game is the much awaited Glasgow derby between the new Celtic Ladies team and City on Thursday 30th August, kick off 7.30pm. This match will be at the new Petershill Juniors FC in Springburn. Entry is £3 for adults and children are free.
