Glasgow City Cup draws

In the Scottish Premier League Cup Quarter Finals, Glasgow City have been handed a tough draw away to Kilmarnock on 14th September. In the SWFL League Cup Second Round, Glasgow City Girls face the long trip north to play Inverness on 31st August.

Commenting on the Premier League draw, First team boss Peter Caulfield acknowledged his team will face a talented side. He said, “Any draw away from home is always difficult and Kilmarnock are a tough side, who will make it a good challenge for us. This will also be our first game only a few days after we return from Europe, so preparation will not be ideal. However, we want to win this Cup, so we will be doing everything possible to make sure we make it into the Semi-Finals.

Looking ahead to the draw for new City side, Glasgow City Girls, this will be their first taste of Cup action at senior level and will be only their second competitive game as a team. Manager Richie Evans cannot wait for the road trip to Inverness. He said, “This is a very hard draw for us. Inverness are a First Division side who did very well last year. However, we are a new team who will only get better with every game. It is an exciting time for our young girls. They are experiencing senior football for the very first time, but they are a talented bunch of players. We probably could not have had a more difficult draw and to face a team like Inverness in only the Second Round is not ideal, but we will relish the challenge and look forward to the game against them.”
