Glasgow City international update
Glasgow City defender Eilish McSorley has been included in the Scotland squad to face Portugal in an international challenge match on Wednesday at the Estádio Dr. José de Matos, Viana do Castelo, 6pm kick off (local time).
Ever present for City this season and with 14 senior international caps to her name, McSorley has been rewarded with a call up after some good form for City in the SWPL and the Champions League.
Eilish joins Glasgow City team mates Jo Love, Leanne Crichton and Nicky Docherty in the squad. Sadly, Glasgow City Captain and Scotland midfielder Leanne Ross, was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury in last week’s Champions League qualifiers.
After missing Sunday’s Scottish Cup win over Celtic 20s to join up with her international team mates, Denise O’Sullivan will represent the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday as they take on Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier at the Tallaght Stadium, Dublin, 7.30pm. It will be Ireland’s last home game before their two away matches against Germany and Slovakia in September.
City Centre half Julie Nelson has been named in Northern Ireland’s squad to take on Poland and the Faroe Islands in her nation’s remaining two World Cup Qualifiers. Northern Ireland face Poland on 13th September and Faroe’s on the 17th September.
