City Girls to be crowned Champions

Glasgow City Girls will be crowned League Champions tomorrow and will be presented with the Second Division West and South West Trophy at their match with Glasgow University at Garscube.

Tomorrow represents City’s last game of the season and they will be hoping to finish on a high and ensure their remarkable run of winning all League matches this season continues.

This season was City’s reserve side’s first ever year as a team and they have surprised many with just how well they have done. As well as winning their League title, City Girl’s lifted the Scottish Football League Cup – the Cup competition competed for by all four divisions below the Premier League.

Their league form however has been quite remarkable and given the challenges they have faced to key players throughout the season, their achievement remains all the more remarkable.

Coach Kayleigh Cameron knows next year will be a much tougher challenge.

She said, “Next season in the First Division will obviously be more difficult for our Girls, but they have a year’s experience behind them now and will have gained confidence from defeating some First Division teams in the League Cup earlier this season.

However, tomorrow is all about celebrating the achievements of this year and every single one of our players knows how much of a crucial role they have played in their phenomenal success and they should all be proud.”
