City Girls defeat Strathclyde

Glasgow City Girls defeated Team Strathclyde 8-0 at Glasgow Green last night.

City cemented their place in third spot in the league thanks to four first half goals from Emma McMonagle, Mel Stirling, Emma Mitchell and Caron Campbell.

The second half proved to be a repeat performance of the first, with City firing another four past the visitors. Midfielder Laura Murray got on the scoresheet along with substitute Shawnie McGeechan. McMonagle and Campbell made up the goal tally to give each of them a brace on the night.

Boss Richie Evans was once again delighted with his side. He said, “We made a number of changes tonight through injuries and other reasons. The girls that came in did brilliantly and proved the strength of squad that we have. We also played both of our keepers and it was great to see yet another clean sheet. We don’t have much time to prepare now for Sunday and I think most of my time will be spent in contact with the physio, but fingers crossed our injury list will come down a little before the Cup quarter final against Rangers.”
