City Girls defeat Glasgow rivals
Glasgow City Girls continued their impressive winning run with an emphatic 12-0 win over local rivals Glasgow Girls.
City Girls were without Captain and recent Scotland Under 19 select Emma Mitchell, who had been pulled up to the City First Team squad. However, they more than showed that they could survive without her, going in 4-0 up at half time.
In the second period, City went from strength to strength firing another 8 goals passed the Glasgow keeper.
Amongst the goals were Emma McMonagle (3), Melissa Stirling (3), Eilish McSorley (1), Lisa Evans (1), Lauren McMurchie (1), Marni Russell (1), Caren Campbell (1) and an own goal from Glasgow Ladies.
The Girls now go into next weekend without a match due to five players being away with Scotland Under 19’s to the Ten Nation Tournament in La Manga, Spain.
Coach Richie Evans was delighted his side’s good form continues.
He said, “I have few complaints about the way the girls handled themselves today. It was another impressive win and to do so without our Captain and arguably one of our best players, was even better. Emma was drafted into the First Team and that serves as a great boost to our team. Every single one of our players has the ambition to play for the First Team and it was great to see Emma being rewarded. We have made a few new signings recently and all are fitting in superbly and adding even more quality to the side. It was great to see Marni and Caren get their first goals for the club and long may it continue.”
