City shortlisted for top award again
Glasgow City have been shortlisted for the second year in a row for the Culture and Sport Glasgow Team of the Year Award.
City won this prestigious award last year and were presented with the honour at the glittering awards ceremony and dinner at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. This year the ceremony is taking place at Glasgow's Tramway Theatre on 11th February.
To be shortlisted, means that City are in the top three nominated for the prize.
City Boss Peter Caulfield commented, "To be shortlisted again, only a year after winning the prize is phenomenal and a tremendous honour for everyone at Glasgow City. We have so many good people at the club, who do everything to make it possible for the girls to produce the performances that they do. The team have been outstanding in the last year. We won every single domestic match and infact the only game we lost at home and abroad was to German giants Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women's Champions League. We picked up two Premier League titles and the Premier League and Scottish Cup. Our Reserve team also won the Second Division title. Ironically I believe we have achieved more in 2009 than we did in 2008, however, part of me feels this will not be our time to win the award. There are many outstanding teams in Glasgow from all sporting disciplines, amateur and professional and I feel for the award to go to the same team two years in a row is unfortunately, unlikely."
