City move six points clear

Glasgow City moved 6 points clear at the top of the Premier League as we approach the mid season break, following tonight’s 4-0 win over Hamilton.

City opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Jane Ross was brought down in the box, with Leanne Ross converting the resulting spot kick.

Just after half time City were 2-0 ahead thanks to a strike from Lisa Evans after she took the ball around Lee Alexander in the Hamilton goals.

Ten minutes later, City extended their advantage with Jane Ross heading home and it was 4-0 before the full-time whistle with Evans hitting the back of the net again following a good pass from Emma Woolley.

The result now means that Glasgow City are six points clear of nearest rivals Hibernian as we enter the mid season break.

Commenting on tonight’s result and performance, Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “It was very good to get yet another clean sheet. We restricted Hamilton to one shot on goal in the ninety minutes and that was from a free-kick, so we have to be very pleased with our performance. On the attacking front I was delighted to see us create so many chances and at the half way stage I must be very happy to be six points clear and it is a great credit to the girls for their performances and hard work so far in the campaign.”
