Glasgow City in all League Cup Finals
Glasgow City Football Club have made history in Scottish Women’s Football becoming the first club ever to have a team in all domestic League Cup Finals.
Current Premier League Champions, Glasgow City First Team take on Spartans in the Premier League Cup Final this coming Saturday at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling. The following Saturday, City Girls line up against Celtic B in the Scottish Women’s Football League Cup Final.
This Saturday will be the sixth time the City First Team have been in the Premier League Cup Final in the last nine seasons and will be hoping for a victory against Edinburgh side Spartans to win the first silverware of the season.
City Girls meanwhile are in only their first ever season as a team, and have incredibly managed to make it to the SWFL League Cup Final – a competition competed for by all four of the lower divisions in the Football League.
Head Coach Eddie Wolecki is delighted how well the club is doing.
He said, “The Premier League side are current Scottish Champions and to a large extent I expect them to be competing in all major competitions as they are Scotland’s top side. We only started our Girls team however in the summer, so to see how well they are progressing when we have only had them together a few months is phenomenal. This is the first season in senior football for all of them, but they are the future of this club and are all very talented players. The club as a whole is progressing well and I expect high standards from every single player here. Being the best and staying there is the hardest thing ever to achieve as a football club, but we are doing our upmost to make it happen.”
