City close the gap

Glasgow City moved to second place in the Premier League following tonight's 4-0 win over Dundee United at Glasgow Green.

City continued their 100% record, to move within one point of leaders Celtic, with City still having a game in hand.

The home side opened the scoring within 5 minutes with a well struck free kick from Leanne Ross after Ruesha Littlejohn was brought down at the edge of the box.

City then doubled their advantage with a fine team goal. Centre half Rachel Corsie burst forward, releasing Lisa Evans on the left and her cross met the run of Katharina Lindner, who finished from close range.

Half time 2-0.

City continued to press the visitors in the second half and were rewarded with a third goal, with Evans the provider for Lindner once more. An excellent again saw Evans race down the left wing and cut the ball back to Lindner who side footed home.

Number four came from Ruesha Littlejohn with half an hour left on the clock. Lindner broke down the left, beat the defender and cut back for Littlejohn to finish in style.

Head Coach Eddie Wolecki commented, "To be honest we were not at our best tonight, but we got the job done which is what matters. We started brightly, scoring on four minutes, but they packed the midfield and made it difficult. But we did score four and once again finished with a clean sheet. We made five changes from the line up on Sunday, testament again to the strength and depth of this talented team."
