City Scotland stars return
Glasgow City’s Scotland internationals return home tomorrow after an eventful and successful trip abroad.
Six City players were away with Anna Signeul’s senior national team for the Cyprus Cup and the team returns having finished fourth, their highest ever placing in the tournament. Jane Ross, Rachel Corsie, Jo Love, Christie Murray, Leanne Ross and Emma Fernon, were all part of a triumphant Scotland squad which defeated England 2-0, our first win over the auld enemy in 34 years. It was a particularly proud moment for Rachel, who Captained Scotland for the first ever time and also to victory.
While the senior players were in Cyprus, City’s Lisa Evans, Emma Mitchell and Lauren McMurchie were away with the Scotland Under 19 squad at the Ten Nation tournament in La Manga in Spain. Impressive draws with Norway and Denmark, followed by a win over the Netherlands was an excellent performance from the young Scots and sets the squad up nicely for the upcoming Second Round UEFA Under 19 European Championship Qualifiers.
