City girls to the fore
Glasgow City strikers Ruesha Littlejohn and Jane Ross fired Scotland Under 19’s to the European finals in France, in July, after netting five of their nation’s seven goals in the 2nd phase qualifying group in Switzerland.
With Ruesha Littlejohn carrying her excellent goal scoring form for the club into the International arena, she has shown she can find the net in any company. Although suspended for the final game against Denmark, she had already made her mark by grabbing a hat-trick in the opening game against Belarus and the crucial second goal which gave the Scots a 2-2 draw against hosts Switzerland.
Not to be outdone, strike partner Jane Ross scored Scotland’s 1st against Denmark, in the final match, before Celtic’s Christie Murray got the winner near the end for a fantastic 2-1 victory against the group favourites.
The girls will now be part of a confident Scotland squad, which will travel to France in July, to face Europe’s best Under 19 teams, including Germany, Sweden and England.
