City Coach heads back to school

With both teams taking a well earned break after a hard fought season, Glasgow City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki headed off to Merrylee Primary School to offer free exclusive coaching for the girls.

Merrylee Primary, based on the south side of Glasgow, recently hosted a Health Week and had asked City to provide some football coaching exclusively for the girls.

City were delighted to help and Eddie had his hands full with over 80 girls attending the sessions.

With great weather and fun filled coaching, the girls had a fantastic day and all wanted their pictures taken with City’s impressive trophy haul.

Some comments from the Girls after their coaching

"I liked the girls football because it encourages girls to do it as well as boys because let’s face it, girls do get a bit intimidated by boys in football’

(Rosie P6)

"I think girls should have football coaching because when they play with boys sometimes we don’t get a touch of the ball. I play for the school football team. There are only 2 girls in the team. It would be good to have more girls playing football.’

(Morgan P7)

‘It was fun because we don’t get it very often. It was good because the boys weren’t there carrying on. I would like to have it again.’

(Beth P4)

‘I enjoyed Eddie teaching us football. I have learn’t new things and I enjoy playing football. I like that the boys weren’t playing because they never pass to girls.’

(Daniyah P6

Here is hoping we can get Eddie working full time for the club and we can provide this type of coaching to young girls all over the south side of Glasgow.
