City awards

Glasgow City enjoyed their end of season player awards last night with Megan Sneddon the recipient of the team’s top prizes.

Following a dinner in the City centre, Manager Peter Caulfield presented the trophies in what was an enjoyable end of season night for his Championship winning team.

Top goal scorer went to the youngest player in the team, 17 year-old

striker Ruesha Littlejohn who ended the campaign with 20 goals. With

four City players all scoring over 15 goals each, City have a good

balance of attacking presence in their side, but Littlejohn proved she

has a very bright future ahead of her, as she ended number one in the

striking ranks in what was only her first full season with City.

Most improved player went to defender and Captain Laura Montgomery. Montgomery’s award and the overall improvement of the defence in particular has been testament to the work done by Head Coach Eddie Wolecki. Finishing the season with the best defensive record in the League shows just how hard the whole team has been working to improve this area of their game and will continue to work on over the months to come.

Stealing the show on the night was midfielder Megan Sneddon who

won Managers Player of the Year and also Players Player of the

year. Sneddon has had a fantastic year, with the 22 year old

winning her 50th Scotland cap only a short time ago and rightfully

picked up the two main awards on the night. In what has been an

outstanding season for the whole City team, Sneddon has stood

out as the heartbeat of the side, maintaining her high standards for

   every game.

City boss Peter Caulfield, was delighted for his young midfielder. He said, “Megan has been fantastic. It is always difficult to pick Managers player, but for me, Megan has showed in every game just how good she is and how crucial she is to Glasgow City. Normally our Players Player award is a close run contest, but this year, Megan was the clear winner and very deserving of both trophies.”
