Glasgow City 7 v 0 Forfar Farmington

Glasgow City strengthened their position at the top of SWPL with a 7 – 0 win over Forfar today at a very wet and windy Petershill Park.

Following good chances for Lisa Evans and Jane Ross, Kat Lindner opened the scoring with less than fifteen minutes on the clock when she rounded the goalkeeper to score from a tight angle. Lindner’s goal marked City’s 100th League goal of the season.

Lindner almost doubled her tally soon after when her good run was found by Clare Gemmell, but the keeper saved well at her near post to turn the ball out for a corner. From the resultant set piece City scored again when Danica Dalziel finished off a well worked corner which a delightful chip into the far corner.

A few minutes before half time Lisa Evans made it 3-0 to the home side, with a fantastic finish from out on the right hand side.

Half time 3-0.

Christie Murray made it 4-0 not long after the restart with an outstanding strike from outside the box. Murray’s strike was her 11th League goal of the season and it would be fair to say that almost every one has been a cracker from at least 25 yards.

Clare Gemmell scored her second of the season to make it 5-0 to City with a 30 yard left foot drive and Kat Lindner got on the scoresheet again, scoring  her side’s sixth when she slotted home after a good through ball from Leanne Ross.

Lisa Evans ensured an emphatic win for City making it 7-0 with the last kick off the ball when she finished brilliantly after racing through on goal.

Commenting on the match, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “We knew today’s match was going to be extremely difficult as Forfar are an excellent and well organised side. Before today’s match they had the second best defensive record in the League, behind our own, so to score seven past them highlights the fantastic performance from our girls. Once again, we scored some brilliant goals today and the passing and movement at times was excellent, especially considering the very difficult circumstances with the weather. Another three points and a clean sheet is what we were after and we now look forward to Wednesday’s match against Falkirk.”
