Glasgow City U'13's v Drumchapel Red 
Glasgow City U13s recently had their first league game of the season against Drumchapel Reds at home. The girls were asked to press the ball and keep possession which they did very well throughout long periods of play.
In the first half Ollie Crawford laid the ball back to Captain Annie Earley who struck the ball well from 20 yards to nestle into the back of the net.Crawford was then to turn goalscorer with some excellent individual skill when she picked the ball up and rounded 3 players before slotting the ball passed the keeper. Katie Rice and Caitlin Kearns passed the ball well up the side which resulted in a cross from Rice which was narrowly put wide from Crawford.
Young Sophie Allison was in goals and pulled off a good save low to her right to keep a well struck shot out. The first half continued with some good quick passing moves which saw shots from all areas of the park, Sophie Hawker shooting from a pass from Kearns, Earley shooting wide and Kearns all having chances on goal.
The second half again saw some good passages of play.Crawford’s creativity making some good chances and with one of her strikes the keeper made an excellent save only for Chantelle Knox to pick up the rebound and score.Knox had another good chance from a corner when her header was turned onto the bar from the keeper.
Knox in the second half showed some good skill to keep ball and used her strength to create chances.Drumchapel caught City on the break with a long ball which was struck well to give them a goal. The pressing high was evident in this half when the girls were winning the ball back up the park, Earley winning a ball back and passing to Knox who had another strike on goal. Sophie Hawker nearly got on the score sheet from a parry from the keeper but her shot hit the post.
Commenting on the match, Coaches Laura Williamson and Stuart Glover said, “The performance from the girls today was what we asked. They pressed and passed well and the chances did come. In particular, we were really impressed with how well the girls passed the ball and were really working hard. Their efforts in preseason training is showing on the pitch. Well done girls and keep up the hard work.”
